Gregory A. Thompson is a partner in Hahn Loeser’s nationally acclaimed Litigation and Construction Groups.  Greg is a seasoned litigator with a proven track record in a wide array of matters.  He has significant experience handling complex commercial litigation, including breach of contract, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and business tort claims.  Greg has also successfully handled significant intellectual property matters and employer intentional torts.

Greg has strengths across a number of industries, with an emphasis on the construction and manufacturing sectors.  In the construction arena, Greg has successfully pursued and defended multi-million-dollar claims involving delays, extra and changed work, and construction defects on both public and private projects.  Greg regularly represents general contractors, construction managers, sureties, specialty subcontractors, and suppliers, among other project participants.  Greg also maintains a robust pre-litigation practice with the aim of mitigating risk and avoiding disputes altogether.

A few of Greg’s recent successes include:

  • Obtained seven-figure settlement against material supplier that delivered non-conforming materials to a luxury high-rise apartment project, thereby causing significant delays and extra work.
  • Obtained a $1.4 million settlement against the Ohio Department of Transportation arising out of the acceleration of a mine grouting project under Ohio State Route 2.
  • Obtained dismissal of an intermediary bank from lawsuit alleging nine-figure fraud claims.

Based on Greg’s successes for his clients, he was selected to and regularly serves as an instructor at The University of Akron School of Law’s Summer Trial Academy.  Greg is also deeply invested in a number of industry trade associations and served as the chair of the Cleveland-Metropolitan Bar Association’s Litigation Section.
