Since 1920, Hahn Loeser has served the business and legal needs of middle market family held, privately held and public companies in Ohio and throughout the United States. To underscore that focus, Hahn Loeser announces a new partnership with the Weatherhead School of Management to support its Center for Family Business. Hahn Loeser Partners, Benjamin A. Cooke and Dana Marie DeCapite, will lead this initiative on the firm’s behalf, contributing articles, attending events, and engaging with family business members to address the unique issues of interest and concerns for family owned business enterprises. Cooke and DeCapite bring substantial hands-on experience working with family businesses and their owners on business succession planning issues, estate planning needs, business formation requests, and other issues. Hahn Loeser is happy to join fellow partners, Glenmede and JP Morgan Chase & Co., in supporting the Center.
“Just about every Hahn Loeser attorney has worked with multiple family held businesses during their tenure at the firm. Families and their businesses are a critical part of our firm,” stated Stanley R. Gorom III, Hahn Loeser CEO and managing partner. “More importantly, family held companies are the bedrock of Cleveland’s and the state’s business climate. We are proud to support the Center and its work to help make these organizations thrive.”
The Center for Family Business
The Center’s initiatives and activities are devoted exclusively to addressing the lifelong needs of all family business members—owners, senior leaders, rising leaders, family working and not working in the business, and non-family executives. It provides educational programs, networking opportunities and peer forums specifically developed for multi-generational family businesses. Research has shown that family businesses are more likely to successfully transition through the generations when they engage in education and planning and have clear governance structures in place. The Center for Family Business members are part of a community of family business owners and leaders who are intentional about carrying on the legacy of their founders. They understand the benefits of education and planning for themselves, their businesses, and their families; and that those benefits contribute to the health of the enterprise now and into the future. Members make connections with other family businesses who they can learn from and with whom they share a common bond.
